Demian Maia vs. Mario Miranda – UFC 118

After his proposed bout at UFC 22 was dropped due to opponent Alan Belcher having a detatched retina, many wondered when Maia will fight next. Well very soon is the answer, as Maia will face Mario Miranda later this month at UFC 118. The event is headlined by a lightweight championship rematch between Frankie Edgar and BJ Penn.
Demian Maia (12-2-0) is one of the very best grapplers in the world. He made his UFC debut in 2007, submitting Ryan Jensen by rear naked choke in the first round. He followed that win up with four straight wins by submission. He has been beaten by both Nate Marquardt and Anderson Silva in a title bout.
Mario Miranda (10-1-0) was undefeated with a 9-0-0 record when signing for the UFC. He made his debut against Gerald Harris in March, losing via TKO in the first round. Miranda rebounded though with a TKO win of his own against veteran Davis Loiseau in June.
