Aldo injured, Faber vs. Barao made UFC 149 main event
When it rains, it pours. It has been revealed that UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo is injured and cannot fight Erik Koch. Faber vs. Barao has now been moved to headline UFC 149.
The news was revealed by the UFC via their Twitter,
“More changes – Aldo injured, Aldo-Koch postponed, Faber-Barao interim title fight now the main event of UFC 149 in Calgary”
The interim bantamweight title fight between Urijah Faber and Renan Barao was originally scheduled to serve as the co-main event for UFC 148. It has now moved over to the next show.
The title fight between Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen will not be affected and will remain on UFC 148.
It is as yet unknown how long Aldo will be out of action for. The UFC have been hit hard by a series of injuries to big-name fighters, including Michael Bisping, Thiago Alves, Thiago Silva and Brian Stann.
