Anderson “The Spider” Silva will defend his UFC middleweight title against undefeated UFC middleweight, Chris Weidman at UFC 162 in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 6th, 2013.

The middleweight title fight is set to headline the pay-per-view card, which is scheduled for July 6th from the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Silva (33-4-0) is the number one pound-for-pound mixed martial arts fighter in the world and has a undefeated UFC record of 16-0-0 and is the current UFC middleweight champion having successfully defended his title a record ten times.

Silva’s last fight was back at UFC 153 back in October 2012, where he defeated Stephan Bonnar at light heavyweight via TKO. Silva last fought at middleweight back in July 2012 at UFC 148, defeating Chael Sonnen via TKO.

Chris-Weidman_118846_left30Undefeated middleweight Chris Weidman (9-0-0) has made a name for himself in the UFC middleweight division, defeating Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu expert Demian Maia and top Wrestler Mark Munoz in his last two fights to get him a shot at the title.

Weidman also has wins over Alessio Sakara, “Filthy” Tom Lawlor and a TKO win over TUF 17 participant, Uriah Hall.

UFC 162 will take place on July 6th from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
