A heavyweight bout is set to main event the UFC’s return to New Zealand on June 11th, with seventh-ranked slated to take on sixth-ranked in the division

A heavyweight tussle between fast-rising Derrick Lewis and veteran Mark Hunt is being worked on by the UFC to headline UFC Fight Night 110, in what will be the organisation’s second event to be held in the country

While not officially signed, it’s expected the heavyweight tilt will signed and made official within the next few days, in addition to further bouts being signed and announced before the weekend

Forty two year old Hunt, a former K-1 champion, is coming off a brutal knockout loss to Alistair Overeem in his last fight on March 4th and has an overall mixed martial arts record of 12-11-1-1NC

The Auckland, New Zealand fighter holds career wins over the likes of Frank Mir, Roy Nelson, Antonio Silva, Stefan Struve and Ben Rothwell defeating all via KO/TKO and is currently ranked seventh in the division

Lewis is currently riding a six fight winning streak with the thirty two year old Louisiana native most recently defeated Travis Brown in the main event of UFC Fight Night 105 in February via second round knockout

Lewis is currently ranked sixth in the heavyweight division

UFC Fight Night 110 will be the UFC’s first New Zealand event since its debut in the country back in June 2014, with an event that was headlined by a Nate Marquardt versus James Te Huna middleweight contest
