Jose Aldo and Anthony Pettis agree to fight in August
Just off the back of his, somewhat controversial, win over Frankie Edgar, Jose Aldo has already agreed to yet another super fight, as Anthony Pettis moves down a weight class to challenge for the featherweight belt in August.
The news was announced by USA Today after they received confirmation from Dana White himself yesterday.
Regarded as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters on the planet, Jose Aldo is the only UFC featherweight champion to date, ever since he moved over to the promotion from the WEC. The Brazilian earned a decision win over former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar this past weekend, although many viewers believed that Edgar did enough in the last three rounds to warrant himself the win.
Aldo has now put together a fantastic fifteen fight winning streak, defending his belt against such stars as Kenny Florian, Urijah Faber, Mark Hominick, Chad Mendes and Manny Gamburyan.
Going by the name “Showtime”, Anthony Pettis is a former WEC lightweight champion and one of the most flamboyant and creative fighters around. Pettis was last seen taking on Donald Cerrone, where he finished “Cowboy” in the first round with a devastating body kick.
Pettis has already featured on many highlight reels, die to his headkick knockout of Joe Lauzon and his fantastic kick of the cage wall to drop current UFC champion Ben Henderson.
Although it is as yet unknown what UFC event the fight will take place on, the date has been set for August 3rd.
