Next month sees Made4TheCage return for their first event of 2013 as they bring us Made4TheCage 9: Night of Champions. Featuring five professional title fights on the card, it surely set to be a great night of action. One of the fights is for the flyweight title fight and one half of that fight, Niko Gjoka, popped into The Fight Lounge for a few words.

We began our conversation by asking him just how much he was looking forward to it and he answered, “I always look forward to my fights because I love fighting! I do however hate cutting weight!”

Weight cutting truly is one of the worst parts of the sport! With this fight being so soon after Christmas and New Year, a time in which a lot of fighters pile on the pounds, we wondered if this was posing and problems to him.

“No not really. No matter what I eat or how much I eat I always stay round about the same weight at all times to its not too much of a problem although that may still be a little too far away from the flyweight limit!”

In order to claim the title as his own, Gjoka must defeat local fighter Shamsul Haque. We wondered just what he knew about him.

“I know nothing about him and I don’t care about him or his skills. All I care about is myself and getting the win!”

In preparation for a bout, fighters put themselves through weeks of hell in the gym to make sure they are in the best possible shape to claim victory. We asked Niko about his training and it seems to be going great!

“Training is going awesome! I train at the best gym around in AVT under the best coach around, Danny Mitchell! We have a great team of lads at AVT and some great fighters such as James Saville, Jay Furness and Gaz Firm!”

As we are at the beginning of the year we asked our guest what his aspirations are for the rest of the year should he leave victorious.

“There is no ‘should’ about it I guarantee I will leave with the win!” He added, “I am fighting on the 2nd March also in a four man tournament at OMMAC 16 but as for the rest of the year I just want to fight as much as possible!”

As is customary in any pre fight prediction we asked if there was a message he would like to give to his opponent and also what his prediction is on the fight.

“Peace and Respect” was his message ad for his prediction, “I will win by first round stoppage.”

Before we let him go we gave him the opportunity to thank anyone and everyone he liked.

“I would like to thank my sponsors at Direct Golf, Berri, Heavy Duty Fight Gear and OP Massive Supplements. I’d like to thank CVBBA, My fight team at AVT and or course my coach Danny Mitchell. I’d also like to thank Naz for being a top training partner.”

To see Niko in action be sure to get down to Made4TheCage 9: Night of Champions which takes place 16th February from the Rainton Meadows Arena in Houghton-le-Spring.
