A light heavyweight rematch eight years in the making has been added to this June’s UFC 161 as Antonio Rogerio Nogueira looks to get revenge against fellow Brazilian Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.

The pair first met in the quarter finals of the Pride Middleweight Gran Prix in 2005 and after an extremely entertaining fight “Shogun” was awarded the decision and would then go on to win the entire tournament.

Coming into this fight on a two fight winning streak having defeated former champions Tito Ortiz and Rashad Evans, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (21-5-0) will look to add another former champ to his resume as well as get revenge. Nogueira brings some high level boxing and jiu-jitsu skills with him as well as a granite chin.

Once considered the most feared light heavyweight fighter on the planet, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua (21-7-0) is looking to not only work his way back to the win column and towards another title shot, but also try to gain some consistency. During his time in the UFC he has only once won more than one fight in a row and that was back in 2009. Since then he has alternated between the win and loss columns over his last eight bouts.

UFC 161 is set to take place on 15th June from the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
