OMMAC 14 postponed until July 28th
Due to The Ultimate Fighter: Australia vs. UK trials taking place on the 15th of June, OMMAC 14: Bring the Pain has been postponed until July 28th.
Promoter Chris Zorba told the news of the postponement to The Fight Lounge today.
The highly anticipated event was to take place at the Olympia in Liverpool on the 16th of June. Once the TUF trials was announced for the day before in London, Zorba rearranged the weigh-ins to take place on Thurday 14th of June, but it still wouldn’t work for many of the fighters booked to compete at the event.
“I regret to inform that OMMAC 14 has been postponed until July 28th.” Zorba told us, “We have had nine fights cancelled in the last day due to fighters wanting to take part in the TUF trials, including two title fights, and the card took a major hit.
“We did try to make the weigh-ins the day before, but the travel was too much. Many fighters did want to fight on the event and were going to miss out on trying out for The Ultimate Fighter but I feel that, due to the strength of the card, it’s a great opportunity for all of the fighters wanting to go and I fully support them.”
Even though the card has been put back five weeks, Zorba insists that the event will be even stronger than initially thought.
“Many fighters have already accepted the change and will still compete against their original opponents, but I can tell you this, some more huge fights will be added to the July event. It will be unmissable.”
So it’s sad news for all the people looking forward to OMMAC in June, but a new, bigger card is now set for July.
