Palhares and Beltran suspended for 9 months following failed drugs tests
Following last month’s UFC on FX 6 event Rousimar Palhares and Joey Beltran have been suspended for nine months each due to failed drug tests.
In a statement made by UFC officials last night they stated that Palhares had been suspended for elevated testosterone levels where as Beltran tested positive for the anabolic steroid nandrolone.
UFC on FX 6 took place 15th December in Gold Coast, Australia so all the medical and drug testing was handled by the UFC themselves, something they do on all international shows.
Rousimar Palhares (14-5-0) took on Hector Lombard in Australia and was steamrolled by the former Bellator champion and was knocked out in the first round. Seeing that he was defeated there will be no affecting of the result.
Joey Beltran (15-8-0) however was victorious on the night as he defeated Igor Pokrajac by unanimous decision. Now that it has been announced that he has in fact failed his drugs test the result will now be overturned and ruled a no contest.
Following the fight both men were medically suspended following there bouts for up to six months however that now becomes irrelevant seeing that neither man will be eligible to compete until mid-September and prior to any return they must both pass a drugs test.
