The headline fight for this June’s UFC 161 has been announced as interim bantamweight champion Renan Barao looks to defend his title for a second time as he takes of former WEC bantamweight champion Eddie Wineland.

Fresh off a fourth round submission win over Michael McDonald last month in London, Renan Barao (30-1-0-1NC) looks to continue his reign of dominance in the division. Riding one of the longest winning streaks in all of mixed martial arts, Barao has all the momentum coming into this fight. He is one of the most exciting 135lb fighters in the world to watch and has fight ending skills both on the feet and on the ground.

After getting off to the worst possible start in his UFC career, Eddie Wineland (20-8-1) has responded well and bounced back from losing his opening two contests to win his last two. His last performance saw him catapult himself up the rankings with a win over the talented Brit Brad Pickett at UFC 155 in December. Wineland is a gifted wrestler but possesses some of the best boxing and hardest hands in the division.

UFC 161 is set to take place on 15th June from the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
