A light heavyweight bout is rumoured to have been put together for a UFC card this June, likely to be UFC 161, as Dan Henderson and Rashad Evans have reportedly verbally agreed to fight each other.

The news of the fight was first reported by and Confirmation that the UFC will host an event on the 15th June was announced by Joe Ferrarao of SportsNet’s UFC Central program.

Coming off a defeat to former champion Lyoto Machida last week, Dan Henderson (29-9-0) will want to return to the win column by defeating another former champion. Henderson is one of the greatest fighters ever to grace the sport and will be keen to work himself to the one accolade that has thus far eluded him in his storied career – a UFC title.

Also coming off a lacklustre performance in his most recent showing, Rashad Evans (17-3-1) will look to add another legend to his list of victims. Since losing his title back in 2009 Ecans had put together a four fight winning streak but has most recently dropped his last two fights by decision, one of which came at the hands of champion Jon Jones. Evans is no stranger to defeating legends and has previously stopped Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz.

Although not confirmed that the event will be UFC 161, the 15th June card will take place at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
