It has been announced today that we will not be seeing Swedish lightweight Reza Madadi in the UFC again anytime soon. This is because the 155lb fighter has been sentenced to a year and a half in prison for aggravated burglary.

The news of this was first broken by Swedish site

The sentencing comes after surveillance and legal documents showed three masked men breaking into a luxury handbag shop in Stockholm Sweden. The three men pulled up outside of Bottega Veneta in a black Audi. They proceeded to smash the shop’s window and loaded the car with numerous handbags before driving away at 5:05am.

Police tracked the car used in the burglary to a nearby garage and they arrested Madadi at the garage at 6:21am. Madadi was found with pieces of glass on his person that matched the glass at the scene of the crime.

Madadi has until 6th September to appeal the verdict.

This story is a complete contrast to the story of Madadi’s exploits in his home country this time last year which saw him save a farther and son from drowning.

The Swede competed three times in the UFC and went 2-1 in the promotion. His most recent appearance saw him win submission of the night in his victory over Michael Johnson.
