The December event will be main-evented by a featherweight title bout, in addition to featuring a major heavyweight, lightweight and flyweight fights scheduled for the December 2nd in Detroit, Michigan

Reigning UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway will defend his title against veteran Frankie Edgar in a fight that has been signed and announced with the last 24 hours, with the bout being the second defence of the title for Holloway having downed Jose Aldo this past June via TKO to retain the championship

Holloway, twenty five years of age, is currently riding an eleven fight winning streak and defeated Anthony Pettis to win the interim featherweight title and then went on to down Aldo to win the featherweight title-proper

Currently on a two-fight winning streak, thirty five year old Edgar is a former UFC lightweight champion and successfully defended the title twice after defeating BJ Penn to capture the championship

Also signed for UFC 218 is a heavyweight bout between two major names as Dutchman Alistair Overeem and Cameroonian Francis Ngannou have agreed to fight on December 2nd in a first-ranked versus fourth-ranked tussle, with the winner likely taking a big step towards a heavyweight title opportunity with a convincing victory

In other notable bouts slated for UFC 218, Lightweight standouts Eddie Alvarez and Justin Gaethje will collide at the event with the two coming off a stint as coaches on The Ultimate Fighter, Felice Herrig and Cortney Casey will meet in a women’s strawweight bout and in a major flyweight contest Henry Cejudo and Sergio Pettis will fight
