A flyweight championship bout headlined a four fight UFC On Fox card from the Sprint Center in Kansas, Missouri, as champion Demetrious Johnson was looking to make the tenth successful defence of his title against contender Wilson Reis

The main card began in the featherweight division, as American Jeremy Stephens(25-13, #5FW) took on undefeated Brazilian Renato Moicano(10-0-1)

A fight that ended up going all three rounds, Moicano was able to frustrate Stephens for all three rounds by being highly evasive in tandem with landing multiple leg kicks and completing numerous takedowns, and while Stephens was the more potentially vicious striker the American couldn’t land any of his big shots

In the end, after doing the entire fifteen minutes the three judges gave the split decision victory to Renato Moicano 29-28, 28-29, 29-28

It was sixth-ranked versus third-ranked in the next bout, as middleweights Ronaldo Souza(24-4-1NC, #3MW) and Robert Whitaker(18-4, #6MW) looked to improve their divisional position, and in Brazilian Souza’s case perhaps earn a title fight next time out with an impressive performance opposite Australia’s Whitaker

Despite being the betting underdog going into the bout, Whitaker was able to dominate his opponent in the first and second rounds, and in the second round dropped Souza with a right straight behind the ear and from there Whitaker began to totally dominate while trading strikes leading to a head-kick that rocked Souza after which the Australian landed more strikes that dropped Souza after which referee Mario Yamasaki stepped in and stopped the fight at 3:28
Whitaker also bagged a $50,000 performance of the night bonus and extended his winning streak to seven with a victory that will see him enter the championship picture

A women’s strawweight fight co-headlined the main card, as Rosa Namajunas(6-3, #4SW) took on Michelle Waterson(14-4, #6SW), with the winner potentially being next in line for a championship bout in their next fight with a convincing victory

Namajunas was able to put on a thoroughly dominating performance in the first and second round, as Waterson was never in the fight and couldn’t get any of striking off due to being constantly out-struck by her opponent, and after landing a brutal head-kick in the second round that dropped Waterson, Namajunas was able to follow up with a rear-naked choke submission for the win at 2:47 of the round

With this demolition of Waterson, Namajunas will most likely get a title shot next time out against the winner of champion Joanna J?drzejczyk versus Jessica Andrade, who fight next month

Brazilian Wilson Reis(22-6, #3FW) was the heavy underdog headlining into his flyweight championship bout opposite American champion Demetrious Johnson(25-2-1), while Johnson was looking to continue his run as the most dominate champion currently in the promotion

A tentative, close first two rounds were punctuated in the third as after securing a takedown and after a few minutes of trying to land some ground and pound shots, Johnson was able to maneuver into an armbar which gave a bloody-faced Reis no choice but to tap out at 4:49 of the round as Johnson retained his championship

With this victory Johnson tied the record for most title defenses in the UFC, equaling the record of ten set by Anderson Silva, while also bagging a $50,000 performance of the night bonus award
