Ray Sefo Interview *Exclusive*
Ray Sefo is a K1 legend with wins over Peter Aerts, Bob Sapp, Mark Hunt and Jerome Le Banner. He has now made the transition to MMA and is currently undefeated with a 2-0 record. Ray has been very busy lately training with Randy Couture, but he has still made time to visit The Fight Lounge.
TFL: Hi Ray. Welcome to The Fight Lounge!
RS: Thank you so much for having me….
TFL: You are a very successful K1 fighter who has now transitioned to MMA. How have you found the change?
RS: I really enjoy learning MMA but when I first started I was like a fish out of water, I’m slowly getting better and better and also have a lot of respect for Wrestling and Jiu-Jitsu
TFL: You train at Extreme Couture with other world class fighters. What is the gym like there?
RS: Yes I train at Extreme Couture with the likes of Randy Couture, Jay Hieron, Vitor Belfort, Mike Pyle, Gabriel Gonzaga, Tyson Griffin, Gray Maynard, Martin Kampmann and so many other top fighters… The gym is everything that you want for a gym, there are two sides to the gym one is for the amateur fighters and beginners and the other side is for the professional fighters only. The gym has two cages and two rings we also have two mat areas and an area for Strength and Conditioning, we also have locker rooms and many more….
TFL: You are part of the Strikeforce heavyweight division. When can we expect to see you back in action?
RS: Yes that’s right I am with Strikeforce but I don’t know when the next fight will be…..
TFL: What do you think of the competition in Strikeforce and is there anyone you would like to face in the future?
RS: The competition is of the highs level and as a fighter you always want to fight the best and move forward to getting a title shoot…
TFL: What is your training schedule?
RS: Monday I have Wrestling training in the morning and then hit mitts with coach Gil Martinez then in the late afternoon MMA training… Tuesday at 9am I have Strength and Conditioning training with coach Jake Bonacci and in the late afternoon sparring… Wednesday Thursday Friday and Saturday is a repeat of the other days…
