UFC on Fox 2 – By the numbers

Here are all the details for Saturday night’s UFC on Fox 2 event, including bonus winners, live attendance and gate.
In just the UFC’ second event on the FOX network, the promotion pulled out all the stops to make the fights better than their first showing – when Junior Dos Santos knocked out Cain Velasquez early.
Headlined by three fantastic fights (including two number one contender fights) the show was a success but marred by controversy, as Sonnen gained an undeserving unanimous decision over Michael Bisping in the middleweight division.
Let’s take a look at who received the bonus cheques, how many people crammed into the arena, and how much the promotion earned through ticket sales alone.
Bonus Winners
Fight of the Night: Evan Dunham vs. Nik Lentz
Knockout of the Night: Lavar Johnson (vs. Joey Beltran)
Submission of the Night: Charles Oliveira (vs. Eric Wisely)
All the winners of bonus cheques took home a cool $65,000 for their efforts. Not bad for a nights work.
The “Fight of the Night” was awarded to lightweights Evan Dunham and Nik Lentz after an entertaining affair. Lentz looked the better of the two in the opening round, but Dunham responded in the second by landing some excellent punches to cut the face of Lentz. The wound must have been bad as the doctor waived off the bout in between rounds.
Charles Oliveira picked up the “Submission of the Night” for his first bout in the featherweight division. The dynamic Brazilian did excellent against newcomer Wisely, taking his back whilst keeping a hold of his leg to land a calf crush/knee bar. The agonizing look on Wisely’s face as he was put in the move spoke a thousand words.
In his first fight since moving over from the Strikeforce promotion, Lavar Johnson gained his cheque for knocking out Joey Beltran. Although he looked a little sluggish early on, Johnson did well to pressure Beltran and land some devastating punches against the cage to finish the fight.
UFC on FOX 2 live gate and attendance
It was announced by UFC representative Ant Evans at the post-event press conference that UFC on FOX 2 drew a live attendance of 17,425 inside the United Center in Chicago and a live gate of $1.2 million.
This gives an average ticket sale of $68.87
