UK MMA Awards 2011: Best Prospect – Adam Parkes

It seems that all the readers agreed with our ‘Top 12 UK MMA Prospects” article, as you have voted the Wolfslair’s Adam Parkes as the best UK MMA Prospect of 2011.
The category for the best MMA Prospect 2011 was jam-packed full of worthy nominees like Lawrence Fitzpatrick, Andy Ogle, Saul Rogers, Shay Walsh and Chris Fishgold. Yet, the majority of you voted for a man who had just one professional bout in the last twelve months in Adam Parkes.
Parkes returned to action at OMMAc 11 in September, defeating Ben Whitehead by TKO in the first round. This means that his combined professional bouts have lasted less than five minutes.
Using some great striking with an ever-improving ground game, Parkes is showing the kind of skill set necessary to get far in the sport, and it isn’t just ourselves who has faith in the Runcorn native as the former UFC heavyweight champion Ricco Rodriguez believes that Adam Parkes has what it takes to, not only make it to the UFC, but be a champion too.
“I’d like to thank every person who has taken the time to vote for me.” Parkes told The Fight Lounge, “To win this award and be named the top prospect by The Fight Lounge too; it means a hell of a lot to me. It has been a quiet year on the fighting front, but I plan on having a huge 2012 and continue winning.”
Parkes returns to the cage in March at OMMAC 13 when he meets Deividas Banaitis.
